Will That Ride Be Open? Here's Who Actually Tracks It

Neither Disney nor Universal publishes an advance refurbishment calendar.
These are the independent trackers doing that work well — we link out, not scrape.

📍 Why isn't there an official calendar?
We checked directly. Disney's own FAQ on this exact question says to check the individual attraction's page or the day-of times guide when you arrive — there's no forward-looking commitment. Universal's official rider guide carries nearly identical language: attractions "may close due to refurbishing... without notice." Neither company publishes binding advance dates anywhere, which makes sense from their side (construction timelines slip, and nobody wants to over-promise a reopening date) but leaves a real gap for anyone trying to plan a trip around a specific ride.

A handful of independent sites do the unglamorous work of watching permit filings, cross-referencing on-the-ground reports, and updating weekly so the rest of us don't have to. Genuinely useful work — here's who does it well.

TouringPlans Closures Page ↗Disney
Best for: The most methodical, least speculative source — run by Len Testa, whose data-driven wait-time modeling has made TouringPlans a trusted name in Disney planning for years.
If we had to bet on one source being right when the others disagree, this is probably it.
WDW Prep School — Refurbishments & Closures ↗Disney
Best for: Exceptionally thorough on resort-hotel refurbishments (pools, room categories, transportation) in addition to rides — useful if a resort closure could affect your stay, not just your park days.
The level of granular hotel detail here is honestly kind of impressive.
AllEars.Net — WDW Closures & Refurbishments ↗Disney
Best for: Frequent, punchy updates and month-specific 'here's what's closed in [month]' roundups that are easy to scan quickly before a trip.
Great for a fast gut-check a few weeks out, on top of years of being an Orlando planning staple.
WDWNT — Refurbishments and Closures ↗Disney + Universal + international parks
Best for: Covers Disneyland and Disney's international parks too, plus Universal — useful if your trip spans more than just Walt Disney World.
The broadest single-page view we found, including permit-filing sleuthing most sites don't bother with.
Disney Tourist Blog — Refurbishment Calendar ↗Disney
Best for: Strong context and analysis alongside the raw dates — explains *why* closures are clustering in a given season, not just listing them.
Reads more like a briefing than a spreadsheet, which is genuinely helpful for understanding the bigger picture.

Universal-specific tracking is thinner than Disney's — fewer dedicated sites, likely reflecting Universal's smaller footprint until Epic Universe. WDWNT (above) covers Universal alongside Disney; these two focus on it directly.

AllEars.Net — Universal Orlando Closures ↗Universal
Best for: Same team and update cadence as their Disney page, applied to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe.
Consistency across resorts makes it easy to check both in one sitting before a multi-park trip.
Orlando Informer — Universal Snapshot ↗Universal
Best for: Universal-first coverage from a team that lives and breathes that resort specifically — closures live alongside current promotions and events in one obsessively-updated roundup.
Worth bookmarking specifically because so few sites give Universal this level of dedicated attention.

We don't reproduce these sites' closure lists here — they update constantly, and this page would be stale the day we published it. Instead we're pointing you to the people doing that work well. If you know of a tracker we're missing, especially for Universal, we'd love to hear about it.
